About Nookandu

More than clothing. A connection to the sea.

Water sports don't have an apparel problem, but water sports do have a visibility problem. For cars, fitness, sneakers, there are a thousand brands – but for divers, freedivers, surfers, there's hardly anything you'd want to wear outside the water. Nookandu fills exactly this gap.

It all started with me, Michael, from the Freiburg area. Traveling in cold German lakes as well as in oceans all over the world. That's exactly where the idea for Nookandu grew from.

30% for the environment and oceans

It was clear to us from the start: We wouldn't do this without a stance. Anyone who spends time in the water sees with their own eyes what is changing – reefs dying, lakes filling up with trash. This is not an abstract issue for us, but something you see directly in front of your mask when diving.

That's why we donate 30% of our profits to organizations that are actively working to protect the environment and oceans. We personally select each organization and scrutinize it beforehand – and we deliberately choose a new one each year, instead of always giving to the same one, to support different projects and approaches over time.

This year: rrreefs

rrreefs is a Swiss start-up that restores destroyed coral reefs using 3D-printed reef structures. Instead of just watching reefs disappear, they actively build new structures where corals and marine life can resettle. This is exactly the kind of concrete, measurable work that we want to put our name behind.

Nookandu. For everyone who doesn't just love the water, but wants to wear it too.
